Cordless Phone Reviews and Ratings

Best Cordless Headset Phone

There are few gadgets as addictive as the cordless headset phone. They are an indispensable aid to busy multi-taskers. Not only do they eliminate restrictions on mobility, but they're a hands free cordless phone as well. Addicts range from business executives to small business operators and working mothers.

GE Cordless Headset Phone

Cordless headset phones were first popularized by GE. Despite their flimsy headsets and dody fasteners users were wildly enthusiastic about them. Unfortunately GE abandoned the space and missed out on an opportunity to make a killing.

Plantronics Cordless Headset Phones

CT14 Cordless Headset Phone

The vacuum was filled by a company that had already established a reputation in the corded and cordless phone headset niche. Plantronics headsets have a reputation for quality. Unlike many competitive products they can survive years of use and abuse. They are also designed to look good. Somehow the company succeeded in designing a cordless phone headset with sex appeal. It then went on to apply the same skills to the wireless headset telephone. The resulting Plantronics CT12, CT14 and Calisto Pro don't have any serious competitors.

Plantronics CT14

The Plantronics CT14 was released in early 2009. It's almost identical in appearance to it's predecessor the CT12. The key difference is DECT 6.0 technology. It accounts for the phones excellent range (300 feet), extended talk - standby time and immunity from cordless phone interference.

Up to six compact wearable dial pads can be registered with a base unit. They can be inconspicuously tucked into a pocket or clipped onto a belt.

It's unlikely that even the most talkative user will ever need to recharge a dial pad in the course of a day. However, if they do allow the unit to run down it cannot be used while docked, which is a small inconvenience that is easily addressed.

Despite it's diminutive proportions the Plantronics CT-14 is a fully loaded cordless phone. It's LCD screen enables both caller ID display and phonebook maintenance.

The Plantronics telephone headset included with the unit can be worn either over the ear or over the head. It's also compatible with third party alternatives including Panasonic headphones.

Plantronics CT12

The CT12's only significance flaw is it's susceptibility to interference. It is a 2.4 GHz phone and like most others it has now been superseded by a DECT 6.0 phone. It remains a popular option with users who have reservations about DECT 6.0 technology. The CT12 wasn't Plantronic's first hands free telephone. The CT10 and CT11 originally established the company's reputation for making high quality hands free phones.

Plantronics Calisto Pro Series

The Plantronics Calisto is the ultimate hands-free cordless phone. Answer your landline, mobile, and VoIP phone calls with one hands free device. The Calisto Pro is undoubtedly the coolest cordless headset phone of all.

Like the CT14 it's a DECT 6.0 phone, but with an integrated Bluetooth headset that can pickup landline, VoIP and even mobile phone calls. It's the kind of flexibility that every cordless phone headset will one day support. Needless to say they're not cheap, but when time is short and there is much to do they're a good investment.

Other Cordless Headset Phones

While Plantronics is the clear leader in the home phone headset market, it has more competition in the corporate office phone headset space. It's up against brands including: Jabra, GN Telecom and AT&T.
